A female cat has more freedom in Taliban<\/a>-ruled Afghanistan<\/a> today than a woman, Meryl Streep<\/a> said at the United Nations<\/a> on Monday, stating that the world has been upended.<\/a><\/p>\n"Today in Kabul<\/a> a female cat has more freedom than a woman<\/a>. A cat may go sit on her front stoop and feel the sun on her face. She may chase a squirrel into the park. A squirrel has more rights than a girl in Afghanistan<\/a> today, because the public parks have been closed to women and girls by the Taliban," the Hollywood<\/a> actor said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\nShe joined several prominent Afghan women activists at the event \u201cThe Inclusion of Women in the Future of Afghanistan\u201d on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.<\/p>\n
